Two years ago I had the honor of photographing Kelly’s twin sister’s wedding in the Fingerlakes Region. And now I had the double honor of being there for Kelly’s big day! With the weather on our side, we braved a little bit of wind of the shore of Lake Erie to witness a stunning first look with Jake on Gallagher Pier of the Outer Harbor. The smiles and nervousness washed away as soon as they set eyes on one another. We jumped around from one of Buffalo’s many industrial spots downtown that provided a true sense of what it is like to be from this Rust Belt City. The ceremony, short and sweet took place at 500 Seneca, with the towering ceilings and glass allowing the afternoon sun to shower us in warmth. From the moment their ceremony ended, it was cocktail time! It was so wonderful to see all of their friends and family gather for such a special occasion and really break it down on the dance floor. I can’t thank you enough for letting me witness such a beautiful union!
I always love an excuse to head back to my native grounds of central New York whenever I get the chance so when Josh contacted me to photograph his wedding, I was ready. Nestled into the little town of Sylvan Beach, we romped around on the beach, through the little amusement park that was closed for the season. It was charming; the day had a particular warm glow to it while these two made promises to one another on the coast of the small lake. The night very quickly turned into a huge dance party with Josh being the main star of it all! He did not prepare me for what kind of moves he had stored away for all his guests. With their art deco themed reception, drinks were overflowing, smiles plastered onto the face of every guest and a general wave of love throughout the room. Thank you to you both for having me on this incredible day!
Like most wedding days, they are hectic filled with people running about finishing last touches. Suzanne and her friends rented out an adorable, charming house in Rochester for her to get ready in. Her friends were down to earth, happy to help and make sure smiles were abundant in the room. We soon headed over to Highland Park for our long awaited first look where Matt paced in anticipation of seeing his bride and by the look on his face, it was more than he could have imagined. Their ceremony took place in downtown Rochester at the Arbor Loft. Industrial, tall ceilings and the most delicatly, beautifully hung floral arbor for their ceremony was the attention grabber. While it was short, their ceremony was filled with lovely poems and a surprise guest that couldn’t help but want to be the star of the show. From then on, it was party time and soon everyone was on the dance floor with a donut in one hand and a drink in another. Thank you again so much to Matt & Suz for trusting me on their big day!
I have been in contact with Dana for more than a year before her wedding, talking details, timelines, color themes, everything. This woman was so excited to be marrying Alex that any mention of something wedding related sprung tears to her eyes. As I handed Dana her flowers the morning of, she had to look away as to not have her mascara bleed. Our day was filled with laughter, mostly Dana’s which is infectious! Everything went smoothly as these two exchanged vows by a beautiful babbling creek to follow many toasts, laughter, many, and I mean MANY “Icings” and of course, dancing. The genuine smiles plastered on Alex & Dana’s faces all day were proof enough that this was one of the happiest days of their lives. Thank you so much for entrusting me on your wedding day!
For so long I have loved this area of Western New York where charming meets spiritual. It’s almost as if stepping back in time when you visit the Chautauqua Institute. With fascinating colorfully painted houses squeezed size by side, this campus doesn’t allow cars so you can freely roam the tight cobblestone roads in this quaint community. The ceremony however took place at Lilydale and if you’re not familiar with Lilydale, let me give you a bit of its backstory. It started as early as 1879 as a meeting place for spiritualists and free thinkers. With a year round population of about 275 people including psychics, mediums, etc it has a staggering yearly visits of about 20,000. Sara & Jack couldn’t have chosen a more interesting place to become one. Our day was brisk one beside the lake but we explored its nooks and crannies. The ceremony was certainly one that could not be forgotten. Told with depth and genuine love that each Sara and Jack outpoured for each other as they held one another’s hands in the magical woods of Lilydale. The night eased into many speeches from friends and family talking about the happy couple and mostly their strength’s together. They ended their night the only way a good wedding should; with tons of dancing and laughter. I can’t thank these two enough for allowing me to marvel in their love story and capture it. Congrats, you two!
What a whirlwind of a day we had! Even though it was the first weekend of September, we had one of the hottest days yet this summer. Everyone was in high spirits and honestly, were troopers for the heat we endured. We traveled all over Buffalo from downtown, to the outer harbor, Buffalo murals all the way back to City Hall. With a solid crew behind them, we made beautiful images from location to location. Once back at the Westin, it was fun from there on out. A short but impactful ceremony led to dancing and more dancing for the rest of the night! Elena’s family being from mostly from Macedonia, we reveled in all the traditional dances that really brought the entire room together as one. It was a truly magnificent day and I am so happy to have been a part of it!
These two have quite the love story! They spent many years finessing a long distance relationship after meeting at a Bible camp. Their love flourished even more this way and brought them closer together. Watching their first prayer together was a sight to see, lots of tears, nervous shakes but ultimately a strong commitment to one another. Saying their vows along Lake Erie with all their friends and family to witness, we dove right into the party which was filled with so many scrumptious desserts and did I mention loads of dancing? The groomsmen were the ones taking the cake on killer moves in my opinion! A big thank you to the newly married couple for having me on their special day, congrats to Matt + Bridget!
What a whirlwind this day was! On Camille's family's sprawling estate, they designed an elaborate celebration for all their friends and family to witness. Everything DIY, with Camille being the mastermind behind a lot of it herself. The decorations, the jewelry, the desserts, her mother even crocheted her gorgeous top. They truly outdid themselves. The coming together of Kevin & Camille was one that seemed natural and easy. Camille, full of life and vigor bopping around making sure the tables were set while cracking jokes and Kevin relaxing with his friends beforehand, these two knew their day was about each other and not stressing. Their fun loving ease showed all the way through the evening with a live band, drinks on deck and a coming together of their closest loved ones. I am so honored to have been the one to capture these two become one and could not be more happy for them! A "Wyse" choice indeed!
I have been hearing about the plans, the ideas, the proposal before there was even a ring involved with these two. I had the pleasure of meeting Taylor when we both worked at Second Chic, a consignment shoppe together a few years ago and we hit it off immediately. Over the years, I have heard all about Shawn. Specifically how he has always been "the one". I mean, this girl has been day dreaming about this proposal I'm sure long before Shawn had even known he was going to do it! Eventually he finally did propose, right in Yosemite Park like someone truly after Tay's heart. Fast forward a year later and I had the absolute honor and pleasure of photographing this meticulously planned union by the ever stylish Taylor Baudendistle herself. No one knows aesthetics like this girl, see for yourself! Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Field!
These two threw a wedding of a lifetime! With a pre-ceremony the day before at the beautiful St. Louis church in downtown Buffalo, Dan & Ashley pledged their love to one another in front of an intimate group of friends and family. Saturday was the day of the big festivities which all took place at the Hotel Henry. As a former Asylum for the insane which closed its doors forever in the 70's, this immaculate building was brought back to life in more ways than one last year. I had been dying to book a couple within these magnificent walls and not only did I, but Ashley is one of the kindest bride's I've had the pleasure of working with. I have spent years in the park connected with this venue with my dog Otto, laying in the grass admiring this architectural beauty to finally get to photograph the inside. I was over the moon! The ceremony took place right on the front steps, short and sweet. The night kicked off with many of group dances, light up glasses and a live band. I can honestly say I have never had a better meal than I had at their wedding! What might have been the best and a first for me, was when Chewbacca came to surprise Ashley out on the dance floor (pictured below). An overall beautiful and hilarious day and I couldn't be happier to have been a part of it.
